Ricardo Lawyer is an accomplished glass artist with over 40 years of experience in stained glass, blown glass, and fused glass jewellery. His journey began in Davis, California, working with stained glass at Ashanti Stained Glass while also creating driftwood projects along the Russian River. A chance visit to a stained glass studio inspired him to move from woodcraft into glass art, sparking a lifelong passion.

In 1982, Ricardo relocated to Australia and established The Glass Studio in Mackay before moving to Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. He trained in glassblowing under John Anthony at Fisherman’s Glass and later refined his skills with masters Greg Royer and Chuck Simpson through the Queensland Glass Blowing Association. His career also took him to the Middle East, where he decorated prestigious venues including The Meridien Hotel, The Chairman’s Club Hilton, Arraya Ballroom, and the Marina Hotel.

Ricardo’s work has been exhibited in projects such as the Queensland Music Awards and the Double Image Exhibition with Colleen Lavender. He has created custom art for the Treasury Casino and continues to craft unique awards, including The Heart of Women and Care Giver’s Foundation awards on the Gold Coast.

Today, Ricardo is based on the Gold Coast, Australia, where he creates one-of-a-kind blown glass, stained glass, and fused dichroic glass pendants. His art is 100% free-form, guided by movement, light, and colour. Each piece is handcrafted, reflecting his philosophy of allowing glass to flow naturally, resulting in wearable art and decorative works that capture both vibrance and timeless craftsmanship.
